Who are the White Rosettes?

The White Rosettes are a Leeds based women’s barbershop choir (referred to as a chorus). In October 2022 they won the LABBS National Ladies Chorus Championship for an unprecedented 17^th time and have been European Ladies’ Barbershop Chorus Champions three times!

We are running a Love to Sing course in Spring 2026 – for more details click here. You can attend a four week FREE course which will introduce you to barbershop singing.

Under the direction of Sally McLean, The White Rosettes aim to push the boundaries of technical excellence, musicality and performance, and achieve this by entering prestigious national and international competitions and performing both in the UK and mainland Europe.  The chorus sings a range of styles, from strict barbershop, to jazz, gospel and show classics.

In 2024 The White Rosettes competed at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Contest in Cleveland becoming the first LABBS chorus ever to compete in this contest.

Come visit us

If you would like to come and visit us please contact us first to check we are at our normal venue – we sometimes go on our travels and wouldn’t want you to have a wasted journey! You can do this by emailing  membership@whiterosettes.org.uk.

The White Rosettes rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm at St John’s Church Hall (St John’s Church, Dixon Lane Road, Leeds, LS12 4RU). Click here for the Google map link to the location

Celebrating Holly 🫶🏻

At our AGM we also said a big thank you to Holly, who stepped down from committee duties.

Holly has served 2 years as PRO, 1 year as PRO while also Vice Chair, then 1 year as Vice Chair then 2 years as Chair. Her tenure as Chair fell during 2024 when we travelled to America #makinghistory so a particular busy and important time in the chorus’ history.

What happens behind the scenes of a chorus is often just as important as what happens ‘out front’ and on the risers. It’s what keeps the forward momentum, keeps the peace, creates harmony, looks after the chorus family. Happy, well-supported singers make the best sounds!

We are all very grateful to Holly for her wonderful service to chorus especially as she is a very busy lady both in her work life (including a PhD) and with other barbershop commitments such as quartetting.

We had our AGM last week and there was a lot to get through - planning the year ahead and celebrating the year past.

We always give out awards at our AGM to recognise members who have given their all, whether on or off the risers.

Well done to our worthy winners this year!!

And a huge congrats to Pam, Louise, Sally and Louise on their 35-year LABBS long service awards 🤩

🎶 We had a fantastic time on Saturday performing at the Harrogate festival of Music. We competed in the Barbershop class and were thrilled to be placed first.

We loved performing alongside Abbey Belles Chorus and Spirit of Harmony - Men's Barbershop Chorus 👏

Huge thanks to Jenny who was our MD for the day and did a truly wonderful job 🫶🏻

A special shout out to Sugar Rush Quartet who competed and were placed first in the quartet category 🥇 They were commended for their lovely voice blend and storytelling performances.

And we were very proud of newly formed ‘Dixon Lane’ quartet on their first outing - got a wonderful adjudication. They only joined forces a few months ago so watch this space! You absolutely did ‘Shine’! 🌟

A fabulous day had by all !!
